Although 68% of employers report that they do not survey their employees to determine benefit satisfaction, 78% believe their employees to be either very or somewhat happy with the benefits with which they are provided, according to a recent survey of Benefits Communication practices conducted by BLR.

Get Your Report Now!Similarly, although 59% of respondents do not use outside survey data to determine benefits, 89% believe the benefits they provide are at least similar to those provided by other employers with which they compete for labor.
The survey also found that 60% of employers report that their organization provides employees with an annual summary of benefit program features, As expected, this percentage showed a direct correlation with company size, as 58% of companies with less than 100 employees provided such a summary, rising to 79% for companies employing 1000 or more.
Nearly half (47%) of participating companies reported providing benefits summaries on paper alone, while 39% reported using both paper and electronic delivery methods, and 14% reported using electronic methods exclusively.
The current survey, which garnered 979 responses, was conducted by BLR's HR Daily Advisor in February, 2011.
