Over half of HR and compensation professionals feel they are underpaid, according to a recent poll. The poll was conducted on HR.BLR.com and Compensation.BLR.com earlier this month. However, while the percentage of respondents who feel they are underpaid is still high (54%), it is lower then the results from two years ago (71%).

This year's poll results show an improvement in the percentage of respondents who feel they are paid adequately. In a 2008 poll, only 27 percent of respondents replied that they were paid "just about the right amount" compared with 43 percent in 2010. Similarly, the percentage of respondents who feel they are underpaid decreased from 71 percent in 2008 to 54 percent in 2010.
The results may reflect an improvement in economic conditions. BLR’s 2011 Pay Budget Survey also revealed that while the weakened economy is still affecting pay, organizations and employees are starting to see slight improvements. Read more:
