A new survey finds that while CIOs are satisfied with their compensation, 4 out of 10 of them expect to be in new jobs within 2 years.
The Harvey Nash USA 2007/08 CIO Survey, conducted in partnership with KMPG explored issues confronting IT leaders. Among its findings were that 80 percent of IT leaders were "satisfied or extremely satisfied" with their compensation, up from 75 percent in the previous year's survey.
Survey figures help explain why they're likely more satisfied: the survey found that while 2 years ago only 36 percent of IT leaders earned more than $125,000 per year, that figure rose to 70 percent last year, and to 75 percent this year. Meanwhile, last year only 41 percent earned more than $150,000--this year that figure increased to 56 percent.
However, fewer IT leaders reported that they found their current role as "fulfilling or very fulfilling"--79 percent in this year's survey, representing a 9 percent drop from last year. Moreover, only 77 percent of IT leaders expect to be working for their current employer within 5 years. And 40 percent expect to change positions within 2 years.
