Among IT staff, the highest salary increases are expected to be for Project Manager, Security Managers, Database Administrators, and Enterprise Architects.

The report, published by TEKsystems, suggests a correlation between higher pay and an increase in IT project needs over the next six months:

IT needs
% expecting increase over next 6 months
IT project needs
57%
Permanent IT hiring needs
43%
Temporary IT hiring needs
40%
IT education/ training services
36%

The survey also reported on the need to fill skill gaps in 2011. The majority of IT directors and executives plan to train existing staff or outsource projects in order to fill gaps. However, 47 percent plan to hire full time staff when it comes to Software as a Service (SaaS).

TEKsystems partnered with the Inavero Institute to conduct this quarterly survey, collecting responses from more than 1,000 IT leaders in the U.S. and Canada. The entire report, IT Executive Outlook Survey (First Quarter 2011), is available online.
