Businesses in California are offering suggestions to governor-elect Arnold

are hopeful that he can carry through on their recommendations.
The newspaper notes that many of the specific changes on the minds of businesses
would require the state legislature to rewrite or repeal existing law. The Republican
governor-elect could face challenges with a legislature in which Democrats hold
a majority.
One of the business community's chief concerns is workers' compensation insurance,
which they say needs an overhaul to lower costs.
Some businesses would like the governor-elect to change the overtime rules
in California, the newspaper reports. In California, employees
must be paid the overtime premium for all hours worked in excess of 8 in a workday.
The business community is also concerned with the legislation requiring companies
to offer health benefits, a bill Gray Davis signed into law recently. The newspaper
notes that Schwarzenegger has said the legislation would hurt business, but
he has not signaled whether he'd seek to repeal the legislation.
