A consent judgment was filed in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Arkansas, Eastern Division, following an investigation by the Wage and Hour Division (WHD), which found overtime and recordkeeping violations of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA). Investigators determined that the Wynne Police Department failed to pay employees for all hours worked, and failed to pay the proper overtime premium to officers who worked beyond 86 hours in a two-week work period.

Additionally, the police department allegedly failed to maintain records as required by the FLSA.

The judgment, which is subject to approval by a district court judge, requires the Wynne Police Department to not only pay the back wages and liquidated damages, but also to be enjoined from future violations of the FLSA.

Further, the Wynne Police Department must participate in a compliance assistance and training program where the WHD will train employees on the application of the FLSA.
