The Illinois Department of Labor (IDOL) recently announced that it stands ready to enforce the changes, which were signed into law earlier this year in Senate Bill 2847.

The Bureau of Labor Statistics reports that women earn 78 cents for every dollar earned by men in Illinois. Since the state’s equal pay law took effect in 2004, the IDOL has received more than 600 complaints and recovered more than half a million dollars in back pay for women who were paid less than men for the same work.
