Who Enjoyed a 4-Day Holiday Weekend?
With Christmas falling on Tuesday, companies had the opportunity to provide a 4-day holiday weekend to employees. Was your company open for business the day before Christmas? If so, you were hardly alone, according to a recent Compensation.BLR.com poll.

When asked "Is Monday, December 24 a paid holiday at your company?," 53 percent responded "Yes," while 47 percent responded "No."

According to BLR's 2008 Survey of Employee Benefits, 4-day holiday weekends were apparently much more common in workplaces over the Thanksgiving holiday. Of the over 3,500 companies that participated in the survey, about 99 percent offer Thanksgiving as a paid holiday while about 70 percent offer the Friday after Thanksgiving as a paid holiday. As with Thanksgiving, 99 percent of all companies responding to the survey give Christmas day as a paid holiday.

The Compensation.BLR.com poll included 695 respondents.
