The measure (Proposition F) would set minimum requirements for paid sick leave. If approved, the measure would require employers to give 1 hour of paid sick leave to an employee for every 30 hours worked. The ordinance would cover part-time and temporary employees.

The ordinance would cap accrued paid sick leave at 40 hours for employees of small employers (fewer than 10 employees) and at 72 hours for employees of other employers.

Under the measure, employees would be allowed to take the paid sick leave for their own illness or to provide care for an ill child, parent, sibling, grandparent, grandchild, spouse, or domestic partner.

The ordinance would allow employers to offer more generous paid sick leave policies.
