HR Pros Not Keen on Ceasing to Track Vacation Time
A large majority of human resource professionals do not think that ceasing to track vacation time would be a good idea at their company, according to a recent Compensation.blr.com poll.

When asked "Would putting a stop to tracking vacation used by employees be a good idea at your company?," 85 percent of respondents answered "No," 13 percent responded "Yes," and 2 percent reported that "We've already stopped tracking vacation."

IBM made the news recently when the New York Times reported that the company no longer tracks the vacation time of its 355,000 employees.

While IBM holds employees accountable for getting their work done, the company essentially allows employees to take vacation just about any time they want, instead of using a seniority system to dole out the best vacation times, the newspaper reported. Employees simply make an informal arrangement with their supervisor regarding the vacation time they want to use.

The Compensation.BLR.com poll included 463 respondents.
