In its "Getting Paid In America" survey, APA asked "How would you feel if your company no longer gave you a paper pay statement but instead provided a breakdown of your paycheck through an online portal?" It found that 62 percent of respondents either "would like it" or report that "my company already does it and I like it." Meanwhile, another 26 percent responded that they had no preference, indicating they were open to the change. Only 11 percent indicated that they would not like to see their paychecks go paperless.

APA explained that "paperless payroll", which is environmentally friendly, allows companies to virtually eliminate paper printing. Through paperless payroll, employees receive their pay via direct deposit, and get improved access to their paycheck information through secure, online web portals. Going paperless also saves money for employers, according to APA

"The convenience, cost savings and environmentally friendly nature of paperless payroll make it a winning solution for employees and employers alike," said APA's executive director, Dan Maddux.
