More employees could be watching March Madness on company time and equipment this year.

CBS will broadcast all 56 games of the NCAA men's basketball tournament over the Internet, and the service will be free for the first time. The company and the NCAA call the service March Madness on Demand.

The tournament begins March 16 and ends April 3. Six of the 11 game days take place during the workweek.

With employees filling out their tournament brackets, checking on scores, and possibly watching games in the workplace, employers should take steps to ensure productivity stays high. Employers should have a clearly worded policy on Internet usage in place and remind employees of what is appropriate.

According to a 2005 survey by the American Management Association (AMA) and the ePolicy Institute, 26 percent of employers have fired workers for misusing the Internet.
