How Much Will Seasonal Workers be Paid This Summer?
A recent survey has found that two-thirds (66%) of employers hiring seasonal workers this summer will consider these employees for permanent placement/positions with their company. What can these workers expect from their paychecks?

According to the CareerBuilder.com survey, nearly 1 in 4 (23%) of over 3, 100 hiring managers and HR professionals say that they plan to hire seasonal workers this summer, and another 14% are undecided. Of those planning to hire, 24% said that their organization plans to pay seasonal workers and interns more than they did last year.

Respondents also provided specifics regarding how much they planned to pay their summer hires: Almost half (47%) expect to pay $10 or more per hour. Another 29% plan to pay between $8 and $10 per hour. Only 11% of respondents plan to pay less than $7 per hour. Some fortunate summer hires will be working for the 7% of employers who plan to pay $20 or more per hour.

So who is doing the hiring? Hiring managers in the Hospitality and Retail industries were most likely to indicate that they were planning to recruit for summer workers. About 4 in 10 hiring managers in each industry said they planned to make such hires.

What are the most popular seasonal positions being offered? Overall, office support is the most sought-after help, cited by 28% of employers planning to make summer hires, followed by customer service positions (cited by 19% of hiring managers) and landscape/maintenance and research positions (both 14%). Eight percent of hiring managers anticipated hiring for the following types of positions: restaurant/food service, construction/painting, and sales.
