"Through our TAA program, we're taking aggressive steps to prepare displaced workers for new and more competitive occupational skills that will lead to future employment and good, safe jobs," said Secretary of Labor Hilda L. Solis.

Workers covered by these latest TAA certifications will be contacted with instructions on how to apply for individual benefits and services. Those who apply could receive:

  • Case management and re-employment services
  • Training in new occupational skills
  • Trade readjustment allowances that provide financial support for workers enrolled in training

Some workers may also receive:

  • Job search and relocation allowances
  • Health Coverage Tax Credit

In addition, workers 50 years of age and older may elect to receive Re-employment Trade Adjustment Assistance.

The 15 states involved in this round of TAAs are Alabama, California, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Iowa, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Texas and Wisconsin.

A chart of companies covered by these certifications can be found on the DOL press release.
