Fifty-two percent of respondents said their voluntary turnover rate increased last year. Only 11 percent of respondents said turnover actually increased in 2009. The remaining 37 percent of respondents said there was no change in the turnover rate in 2009.

Other surveys have shown that the reality of the sputtering economy has kept employers from completely reversing cost-cutting measures put into place in 2008 and 2009. While some of those freezes have begun to thaw, many employers remain cautious. However, any improvement in the economy will have more workers contemplating a move to a new employer.
