industry's continued quest for warm and talented bodies, here are two new ideas you might consider. The first is prisoners, promoted as an idea by Edwin Meese, former Cabinet Officer, who says that they are a vast and talented source of underutilized talent. Many prisons are eager to find meaningful work for their prisoner populations, both to give them something to do but also to help there re-entry into the community. Businesses can use them for outsourced work at attractive prices.

The second idea is a bit less radical. What are often referred to as "boomerangs" or "alumni", they are your former employees. By keeping in contact with them you might increase your chances of rehiring them when, for example, their children go to school, they return to the area, or relations/opportunities at their current employer head south. Their advantages are obvious and worth spending effort on: these workers know you, you know them.
