About 1 in 5 HR professionals report that economic conditions will likely cause their company to hire fewer new college graduates this year, according to a recent Compensation.BLR.com poll.
A recent survey by from CollegeGrad.com, an entry level job site, reported that master's level job seekers had a "very positive job outlook in 2008," as "top employers" planned to increase their hiring of college graduates with master's degrees by 22 percent this year. So it made us curious as to the hiring plans of Compensation.BLR.com visitors/subscribers. The results were a little surprising.
When asked "Will the economic downturn impact your hiring of college graduates this year?," the most popular answer, given by 37 percent of respondents was "We rarely hire new college grads." Meanwhile, 33 percent responded "No," while 21 percent acknowledged that "Yes, it will likely decrease." The remaining 8 percent reported that "It's too early to tell."
The Compensation.BLR.com poll included 131 respondents.
